All Inspections

During a routine inspection

In this report the name of a registered manager appears who was not managing the regulatory activity at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still a registered manager on our register at the time.

When we visited we spoke with three people living at the home, the manager, deputy manager and another member of staff.

People appeared happy and relaxed. They told us staff always asked their permission first before they did anything to help them.

People told us they were happy living at the home, some of whom had lived there in excess of ten years. One person said, 'I like it here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.' We saw good interaction between people living at the home and the staff who supported them.

People told us there were enough staff on duty all the time to meet their needs. We saw this was so when we looked at the off duty rotas.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the services provided at the home. Any actions needed to improve the service had been taken.

During a routine inspection

People in the home said they were treated with dignity and respect and supported to be as independent as possible. They said they had access to all the leisure activities they wanted and attended a variety of training courses. One person told us, 'I have lots of friends here and we do things like bowling, swimming and horse riding, it's very good.'

The people we spoke with said staff were supportive and helpful. We received positive comments about how they provided care and support to people. People who used the service described the staff as kind and helpful. Comments included, 'Staff are nice and talk to us' and 'Staff take us out and look after us.'

We saw people received their medicines on time and were supported to self medicate where possible.

People also said they knew what to do if they wanted to complain about anything and felt sure something would be done about it.
