Our current view of the service

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 22 May 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Together Dental Ashford is part of Together Dental, a group dental provider. Together Dental Ashford is in Ashford (Surrey) and provides NHS dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 9 dentists, 2 dental hygienists, 5 qualified dental nurses, 5 trainee dental nurses, 5 receptionists, and a practice manager. The practice had 8 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 3 dentists, 1 dental hygienist, 1 dental nurse, 1 trainee dental nurse, 2 receptionists and the practice manager. We also spoke with 2 compliance managers.

On the day of inspection, we saw patient feedback from 22 patients who had completed the NHS Friends and Family survey. All of the patients that responded commented positively about the practice and said that they would recommend it to family and friends. Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 2 patients through our giving feedback on care system. On the day of inspection, we spoke with 2 patients. Their response and additional patient feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. The feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. The practice sought and shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. The provider gathered feedback from staff through meetings and informal discussions. Staff were encouraged to offer suggestions for improvements to the service and staff said these were listened to and acted on where appropriate. Staff gathered feedback from patients, and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback.
