Our current view of the service

Woodville Residential Care Home is a residential home providing accommodation for older people who require nursing or personal care for up to 46 people. At the time of our assessment, there were 42 people living at the service. The service was last inspected on 3 August 2021. This assessment commenced on 3 April 2024, with an on-site visit to the service. Off-site activity continued until 10 April 2024. At this assessment, we looked at 10 quality statements. We found that the provider was in breach of regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment), regulation 18(1) (Staffing) and regulation 17 (Good governance). The provider is required to provide an action plan to assure us what they will do to make necessary improvements at the service.
People's experience of the service

People told us that staffing levels were not always sufficient, and at times they had to wait for their care needs to be met. People told us that they did not always have access to call bells which lead to them having to shout out for assistance. A person told us they did not always receive ‘as and when required’ medicines in a timely manner, leaving the person in pain. Some people thought their independence and choice were not always respected, and they did not receive support with their personal hygiene as often as they would like. Not all people and relatives felt they were involved in people’s care plans. However, they were confident that staff knew them, and their care needs well. Overall, people and relatives told us that Woodville Residential Care Home was safe and they knew how to raise any concerns. People felt that safeguarding concerns were resolved promptly, and they were kept informed. Relatives felt that their family members had settled into the home well. Relatives told us that staff were kind and caring and they felt that their family members received good quality care. People felt that they were treated fairly, and their human rights were upheld.
