Staff knew people well as individuals and knew what their preferences, likes and dislikes were. People were supported to follow their interests and staff supported them to see health professionals if this support was needed. Care plans gave a good overview of people's support needs and people and relatives were asked to feedback about the service on a regular basis.

Equity in experiences and outcomes
The provider had a variety of systems in place to gather peoples, relatives and health and social care professionals views and feedback on the service. Any suggestions or actions highlighted were reviewed and taken up by the manager to resolve. Feedback was positive, a health and social care professional had commented, " Excellent overall experience, dignity, management, safety all excellent." People's care and support records were person centred and set out aspects of people's characteristics, beliefs and preferences to ensure people's equality and diversity was respected.
Staff knew people well and had regular meetings and discussions with people and their relatives. Relatives told us any actions agreed would always be acted upon. The manager told us, " All our staff do equality and diversity training, they are knowledgable on that. We discuss equality and dignity in team meetings and run through examples of how staff have cared and supported people and discuss the outcomes they have achieved." A member of staff told us, " Communication here is good, we know about any changes. People are given choice and we listen to their wishes. We treat everyone equally, they get on well and have their favourite pastimes which we support them with." And, " We are all treated equally staff and residents, we are like a family. We have completed equality and diversity training and get update training regularly."
People and their relatives were supported to give their views on the care they received and the running of the home. This was done through family meetings and regular reviews. A relative told us how their family member's health had improved since living at Milton Grange. They told us, " They do pretty well with everything. They have got [person] back up on their feet for a few steps. [Person] used to have seizures but since they have lived here they have not had one. No complaints at all, very happy with it all." People were supported and encouraged to take part in activities and outings that they may enjoy. One relative told us, " They take [person] out to places [person] likes and gardens. I visit here and we go out into the sunlounge and in the garden which is lovely. They do quite a bit with [person], some mornings [person] likes to get up and be involved with everything, I can't praise them enough." Another relative had stated, " [Person] is well cared for and is in safe hands. The home is a calm environment and importantly a safe place for residents, all of the staff have the same ethos of care and support for those in their care."
