During a routine inspection
People said they made choices about their care, activities, and meals. One person told us, 'I go to bed at 8pm which is my choice and the staff help me. They bring a hoist to help me get into bed.' Another person told us, 'What I like about it here is that the staff leave me to do my own thing and they don't interfere unless I ask them to. I'm an independent person so that suits me.'
People told us they liked the food and had a choice of dishes at mealtimes. One person said, 'The food is very good. The cook comes to the residents meetings so we can ask for what we want. Someone asked for black pudding for breakfast and they got it. I asked for thick gravy and they always make it like that for me now.' Another person commented, 'The food is very nice and the meals different every day. I think the cook does a good job.'
People said they found the staff caring and approachable. One person told us, 'The staff are excellent ' polite, helpful and kind. They do so many things for me. I even have my own carer who does my shopping. She's a godsend.' Another commented, 'We have a lot of fun with the staff. They're great friends to us.'
