Our view of the service
Date of assessment 24 Sept to 25 Sept 2024. Highview Residential Home is registered to provide care for up to 19 people. There were 18 people living at the home during this assessment. The service aims to meet the needs of older people including some people living with dementia and frailty of old age. This was a comprehensive assessment, and we assessed all quality statements under each of our five key questions. Safeguarding procedures were in place to ensure people were protected from avoidable harm. Staff felt supported and had the necessary skills to do their job. There was effective leadership, and monitoring systems in place. People’s rights were fully respected, and consent was sought as required. People had care plans and risk assessments in place and care provision was person centred. People’s views and preferences were communicated and acted upon. Staff were kind and caring, taking into consideration people’s individuality.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives told us they were happy with the care and support they received. People were supported by a regular and consistent team of staff who understood their needs well and worked to keep them safe and living well. People’s rights were respected, and their individuality supported. One relative told us they were happy with the care and said, "Having (my loved one ) in Highview Residential Home has given me freedom to not have so much worry about how they are being looked after.” Another relative said, “I want to go there when I need a care home.” Comments from people included, “It is very nice to live here. It is very homely”, “You can’t meet a nicer bunch of people or home. I wouldn’t go anywhere else”, and “I am very grateful and appreciate all that they do. It is brilliant.”
