Our view of the service

Avondene Care Home is registered to accommodate up to 11 people, in an adapted building in a residential area of Mudeford, Christchurch. The assessment commenced on 12 April 2024 and was completed on 16 April 2024. The site inspection took place, unannounced on 15 April 2024. Two inspectors attended Avondene Care Home to meet with people and staff, we met with the nominated individual for the home via video call. This assessment consisted of all the quality statements within the key questions of Safe and Well Led.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives told us Avondene Care Home was a good place to be. Staff knew people well and they understood their needs. Many improvements had been made since our last inspection of this home. However, some were not embedded into practice and therefore were not reliable enough to ensure all processes in the home operated effectively. This oversight had not had an impact on people, or the home and the provider immediately rectified the shortfalls found.
