Our view of the service

Date of assessment 21 January 2025 to 31 January 2025. Kingsthorpe View is a ‘care home’ providing personal care and nursing care to older people and people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 40 people with their personal care needs. Kingsthorpe View was last rated inadequate (published 13 December 2024). At our last inspection we found improvement was needed and the service was in breach of legal regulation in relation to person-centred care, safe care and treatment, staffing and governance. At this inspection we found improvements had been made to the risk management, staffing and medicine management. However, the provider did not always have effective system and processes to ensure the building was safe, people were being simulated and were involved in meaningful activities. People were not involved in choice and control over their support and further works was needed to embedded oversight of the service. We received assurances the provider will address these following our site visit. The provider remains in breach of regulation in relation to governance and person centred care.

People's experience of this service

People told us there were limited meaningful activities. Relatives also told us people did not always have something to do and were at risk of boredom. Where people had expressed they wanted meals of their cultural backgrounds, they were not supported to ensure this was offered. People told us staff were kind. The home was clean, and bedrooms had been updated to be more cosy and homely. Improvements had been made to the garden meaning people could access this safely.
