There was a good culture; where staff felt able to speak up about any concerns they had. There was a new management team, which had effectively audited the service and made improvements. There was a clear plan to continue to improve the service. Staff understood their role and responsibilities.

There were clear policies in place to guide staff on how to raise any concerns. This included how to express concerns to internal management and external stakeholders.

Staff felt confident that the management team would listen to any concerns.

The provider had completed an audit and identified that the service was not working to the expected standard. There had been a clear improvement plan in place and this had caused the standard of care to improve. While there were remaining actions to be taken, there was a clear process in place to ensure that all remaining improvements were made.

Staff expressed concerns about the previous management of the care home. They explained that the new interim management had been very helpful. They now understood their roles and felt well supported. One staff member said, “Things have changed a lot, you could sense the chaotic atmosphere when I started.” The management team informed us that they were a temporary arrangement and were in the process of recruiting a long term management team. They explained there were provider level processes in place to support this new management team.
