Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 13 March 2024. Douglas Bank Nursing Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 40 people. The service provides support to people living with dementia, older people, younger adults, people with a physical disability and people with a sensory impairment. At the time of our inspection there were 32 people using the service. We decided to assess the safe and well-led key questions to look at these concerns. We found that the provider was in breach of regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment). The provider is required to provide an action plan to assure us what they will do to make necessary improvements at the service.
People's experience of this service
People living in the home told us they were happy with the care they received. The manager and staff promoted positive risk taking to help people gain skills and live an independent life as possible. Systems were in place to carry out structured assessments for people to live at Douglas Bank . One person commented in a survey, 'I find the staff friendly and helpful.' Other feedback included that the staff were. 'wonderful, kind and compassionate'. Relatives told us they felt welcome visiting the home at any time.
