During a routine inspection

Selwyn Road had three residents at the time of our inspection. We were only able to speak with one of them as the others attended a day centre. The person was able to give us limited feedback on the quality of the service due to their learning disabilities. We observed that the person was comfortable at the home and approached the staff to ask for help without hesitation. We saw that the person's room was personalised and that they were able to choose how they spent their time.

Staff told us they enjoyed working in the home. They received ongoing training and were confident about their roles.

We found that people's needs were assessed and that their care plans were available and were reviewed on a regular basis. All residents had a person centred support plan with plenty of pictures about the person, their family and the activities they liked doing. People's health was monitored and they received medical check-ups and reviews. The manager monitored the quality of the service and involved people and their families in the development of the service.

The one person who spoke with us told us that they feel safe at the home, think that the staff care about them and that the home is a nice place in which to live.
