28 February and 21 March 2011
During a routine inspection
One person told us they had been to see their favourite band the day before and had been supported to do this by their key worker.
People confirmed that they are encouraged to participate in flat meetings and we saw that minutes were kept of these meetings.
People using the service confirmed they are able to make decisions about their day to day life at 52A Haddon. They told us they had signed their care plan as a sign of their agreement and consent.
People confirmed they knew which member of staff to approach should they wish to raise concerns and two people pointed out their individual key workers, on a poster in their flats, with photographs of each staff member.
People told us they were given a choice of what they wanted to eat and had help from staff to prepare meals. We spoke to three people who were preparing their lunch. One person told us they were a vegetarian and were supported by staff to prepare vegetarian meals.
People told us that staff help them to keep their flats and their bedrooms tidy.
Three people wanted to show us their bedrooms and how they had been decorated. One person was very proud to show off their room decorated in their favourite football teams colours. Another person was keen to show us their pictures and posters of their favourite band which covered the walls in their room.
