During a routine inspection
People said that they appreciate having their own rooms, and being able to choose how they are decorated. One person told us 'I chose the paint and new curtains for my room. I have also picked a new quilt to match the colour of the walls. People told us that they liked living at the home. One person said 'I've lived here for years. I really like it.'
People told us that they made decisions about what they did during the evening. One person told us 'we can choose what we do. I like to watch the soaps on the television.' One person told us how the staff has helped them to learn how to use public transport to get to their job. They also told us that the staff have worked with them so that they can buy the vegetables for the home in the local supermarket. People who use the service told us that they felt safe at the home and that staff are 'considerate'.
People told us that the food was 'tasty' and that there was plenty to eat at times that suited them. One person said 'we decide what we want to eat. I don't like prawns so the staff make me something different when we have a prawn salad'.
People told us that there was assistance for them to maintain their personal hygiene if required and that their privacy and dignity was respected. One person said 'I can always have a quiet chat with the staff if I don't want other people to know what I'm saying '
People had positive comments to make about the home and we found that all the essential standards were met.
