During a routine inspection
We spent time observing the way staff cared for and interacted with people. Staff were friendly and polite to people and clearly knew them well.
People told us they were happy with the way staff offered them care and support. We were told, "they listen and are very kind."
We were told that people make choices and decisions about their lives. This was reflected in the care records we looked at. People commented that they made decisions about menus and activities and had been consulted about ways to improve the service in the home.
A visitor told us the care was "second to none" and that they had every confidence in the manager and her staff.
People said they were happy with their bedrooms and felt warm and comfortable. A visitor commented, "for a large place, it's very homely."
We saw that much thought and effort had been applied to communicate information to people in a way they could understand. There were lots of photographs showing people taking part in parties and activities.
People told us there were lots of things to do and they particularly enjoyed having pets in the home.
