Fryers House - Care Home with Nursing Physical Disabilities is a care home registered to provide accommodation, nursing, and personal care. The aim of the service is to provide support and care for people with physical disabilities. The assessment was unannounced and started on 23 July 2024 and ended 6 August 2024. We looked at 7 quality statements. At our last inspection under our old methodology (report published 30 April 2019), the service was rated as good. At this assessment the rating remained the same. We completed this assessment due to concerns received from a partner agency in relation to risk management. The registered manager was aware of these issues and had already made improvements to ensure people’s safety at the time of our inspection. We identified some shortfalls with risk assessment records but were assured by the actions the registered manager was taking to improve them. People and relatives were positive about the way their risks were managed and staff understood people’s needs well. We also found some medicine records needed improvement and this was being worked on at the time of our assessment. Staff had the skills and knowledge they needed to support people safely. Care staff were being upskilled which meant people could go out more. The provider had a range of quality assurance systems in place. The registered manager and operations manager were in the process of embedding them and ensuring these were being used effectively. Staff told us there was a positive culture in the service and were committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for people. Staff enjoyed working at Fryers House and felt valued for the work they did. The leadership team were open throughout our assessment and took our feedback on board.
