Our view of the service
Date of assessment 03 July to 23 July 2024. Balmore Country House is a residential home providing personal and nursing care to up to 76 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 28 people using the service. Balmore Country House was last rated requires improvement (published 28 May 2024). Both the previous and this assessment have been completed following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) new approach to assessment; Single Assessment Framework (SAF). We returned to complete remaining quality statements which had not been covered in our first assessment. We assessed a total of 16 quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions and found areas of good practice. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores from the last assessment.
People's experience of this service
People told us they felt the care they received made them feel safe. They were involved with decisions about their care and the care they received was in accordance with their assessed needs. All people had access to external health and social care agencies such as GPs and dentists when needed and all, if they wished to, were able to discuss the care they wanted when they neared the end of their lives.
