During a routine inspection
Staff told us that they support people with complex needs including mental health problems and learning disabilities. They work closely with other services to meet people's needs such as the assertive outreach team. Staff told us that the positive behaviours training was very useful to help de-escalate challenging behaviours and keep people safe.
We looked at care plans and risk assessments. There was evidence of an escalation system for behaviour indicators and best interest assessments including capacity statements. We saw evidence of liaison with community learning disabilities teams and mental health teams. There were hospital assessments profiles for people with learning disabilities. These help hospital staff understand peoples behaviours, to safeguard them and others if or when they have to attend hospital. However, we found that a new quality assurance manager was now in post. A new system to monitor the quality and effectiveness of the service provided to people is in development.
