Bings Hall is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care to older people. This was the first assessment carried out under our single assessment framework. This assessment was unannounced. Assessment activity started on 31 January 2024 and ended on 20 February 2024. We visited the service on 31 January 2024. We looked at 9 quality statements which included safeguarding, involving people to manage risks, safe environment, safe and effective staffing, consent to care and treatment, independence, choice and control, equity in experiences and outcomes, freedom to speak up, along with governance, management and sustainability. We found improvements were required in relation to the management of risks, both for people and within the environment. Action was also needed to ensure people were being supported in the least restrictive way and that they had control of their day to day lives. We also found that some areas of the home required maintenance and improvements were needed in relation to cleanliness. The provider had governance and management systems in place. The registered manager completed quality audits which cover a number of aspects of care, however these did not identify the failings in the quality of care found during the assessment. The provider and the registered manager were responsive to feedback given and had started to take actions to address the concerns found. We found that staff interacted with people well and at the time of the assessment was responsive to their needs. Staff said they felt they had the right skills for the role and was able to speak with the management team and were listened to.
