During a routine inspection
People told us 'I've lived here for some time, I couldn't do any better'. 'I like it here very much. There are very nice people'. They said 'I can go to my room whenever I want to'. 'Staff always knock on my door'.
People told us 'I had a crossword today and enjoyed it'. 'I like to read the newspapers'. 'They have activities here, but we could do with a few more. Things are organised in the house'. 'I went to a panto at Christmas; it was lovely, definitely lovely'. 'There are occasional coach trips. I've been to the seaside twice'. 'I miss going to town for shopping. I have to have someone with me and I don't like to ask staff'.
'Staff give me the help I need'. 'The staff are very good, they help me with my bathing and help me to the toilet'. 'I'd fallen over and they helped me up and made sure I was OK, they got the doctor in to make sure I was OK'. 'Staff give me medication in here, it's always on time'.
People told us 'The food is very good. I have a choice of main dish, there is a good variety. I have a choice for all my meals, not just the main one. I have to order in the morning'. 'I'm not sure if they'd do anything special, but I wouldn't know because I get on well with the food'.
People said that they liked living in the home and enjoyed having their own room. People told us 'I've got a very nice room; it's quite a big one. It's very comfortable and on the first floor. I can use the lift to get to my room and back'. 'Staff always come quickly when I ring the bell. I can ring when I need help'. 'I've got a bell if I want anyone, they always come fairly quickly'.
People told us that they felt safe and were well cared for by staff. People told us that they could speak with staff if they had a problem or were worried about anything. People said the staff were kind and caring. People told us 'I have no complaints about anything. If I had I would talk to the manager'.
