During a routine inspection
During our visit to Mountdale Nursing Home we saw people taking part in activities as a group in the lounge, and also someone who were confined to bed playing dominoes with activity staff in their room. Where possible people were given the opportunity to be as involved or separate as they wanted to be. For example, we saw that people were able to choose whether they wanted to eat their meals in the lounge sitting in armchairs, or at the table, or in their room.
We spoke with two people who confirmed that staff called them by their prefered name, maintained their dignity during personal care activities, and if they required assistance it was given in an appropriate amount of time. One relative we spoke with commented that they had chosen Mountdale Nursing Home because it had a nice feel to it and was not too big. Another relative told us that staff were "very good, very helpful."
