Prime Care Domiciliary Essex provides personal care and support to people who require assistance in their own home. This service is a domiciliary care agency. At the time of our assessment 48 people were being supported by the service. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. We carried out our on-site responsive assessment on 29 October 2024, offsite activity started on 22 October 2024 and ended on 6 November 2024. This assessment was announced. We found 5 breaches of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, safe and effective staffing, good governance, and the notification of incidents. Information relating to people’s individual risks was not always recorded, up-to-date or did not provide enough detail as to how identified risks should be managed and mitigated. Care plans did not contain enough information to ensure staff knew how to deliver appropriate person-centred care. The policies and procedures were not always followed when safeguarding incidents had occurred. Governance systems and audits were not effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement. We have made a recommendation about end of life wishes. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
