During a routine inspection
We sat with people in the lounges on the houses, observed care practices and saw how staff and people interacted with each other.
Throughout the observation we saw all staff treated people with dignity and respect by using a positive, friendly and kind approach. We observed examples of good communication skills by staff that utilised eye contact and touch to engage people who use services.
Staff showed that they knew people well and were really tuned into their needs.
We also spoke with some people who were able to express their views by either speaking with us or by using actions to communicate their views.
People said they were happy at Buckwood View. Individual Comments included,
'Good.'
People smiled and clapped expressing satisfaction when we asked how they liked living at the home.
We spoke with relatives who were visiting the home and they confirmed that they were very satisfied with the care provided. One relative told us "This place is out of the world. The care and the staff are unbelievable.' They added "My daughter has come on leaps and bounds since she has been here."
Sheffield Local Authority Contracting and Commissioning had carried out a full monitoring visit in the last six months. Their report showed that they believed that the service met all aspects of the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.
