During a routine inspection
Some people who live at Handsworth have some conditions that mean we had difficulty talking with them. Other people were able to express their views clearly.Due to people's communication needs we used different methods of gathering people's experiences during the site visit. We sat with people in the separate bungalows, observed care practices ,and saw how staff and people interacted with each other. Throughout the observation we saw all staff treated people with dignity and respect by using a positive, friendly and kind approach. We observed examples of good communication skills by staff that utilised eye contact and touch to engage people who use services.
We spoke to three people. All spoke very highly about the service and the staff working there. One person said "It's really nice here, I like all the staff, I do, I like them all they are lovely.' Another person said 'The staff are very good, they are more than kind. I'm happy here.'
We spoke with Sheffield Local Authority, Contracting, Commissioning and Safeguarding and they told us that they had not identified any concerns at the home.
