During a routine inspection
People reported that they were generally satisfied with the standard of care they received at Callands Care Home and confirmed their care needs were being met. Favourable feedback was also received on the standard of catering and meal choices. For example, comments received included: 'The food is ok'; 'The food is not bad at all' and 'The food is great, its home cooked like being in your own home'.
People spoken with told us that they felt relaxed, listened to and able to approach the management and staff team should they have any concerns.
Overall, Callands Care Home was maintained and suitable for the needs of residents. People living in the home reported that their bedrooms, en-suite facilities and communal areas were generally kept clean and tidy. For example, a resident reported 'The cleaners come in every day and keep my room nice and clean.'
Residents spoken with reported that they received their medication from staff when required and that they felt staff handled their medication in a safe and secure manner.
People we spoke with expressed mixed views regarding the staffing levels in Callands Care Home however no issues of concern were highlighted regarding staff experience or skills.
