People's equality and diversity was explored through assessment and care plans. A 'You said, we did' board was in place and evidenced action was taken to address people's suggestions. Most people told us they felt their views were listened to and they could express needs and wishes. We received mixed feedback regarding the activities and social stimulation provided, however most people and staff told us the activities had recently improved.

An activities coordinator was in place and was engaging with people. The service had recently hosted themed days such as India day, which celebrated different cultures. Animals were brought in for people, including dogs and a Shetland pony, which was taken to people's own rooms when they were cared for in bed. We received mixed feedback from people and relatives re the activities, some people told us they felt the activities had recently improved and they enjoyed the entertainers who visited the service, whilst others told us they weren't provided with meaningful activities. Comments included, "There are no activities" "I wish I could do more things" and "You couldn't get a better place for activities" "Things have improved, there are more activities now." Most people told us they felt listened to, however a relative said staff didn't always know about their relatives health needs and were told to ask the district nurses.

During our visit we observed staff asking for people's views. Staff told us people were supported on a 1:1 basis with activities if required and told us the activities offered had improved.
