The premises at 98 Old Milton Road is comprised of the registered care home for five people with a learning disability and is linked to another building of five flats. This is where other people with a learning disability are supported to live independently. Our inspection relates to the care home only, as this is registered with CQC.We were assisted throughout the inspection by the care staff, two of the people who lived at the home and the home's deputy manager. When we arrived at the home, three of the five people were about to leave to attend day services. We spent the morning with the two remaining people and the two members of staff who were on duty to support them.
People living at the home were supported to live as independently as possible. They were treated respectfully and the staff promoted people's privacy and dignity.
People's health care needs were met as staff made sure that people had access to health care services. People were encouraged to lead active and fulfilling lives by being able to make choices about everyday living.
People were protected from abuse by the staff being trained appropriately in the protection of vulnerable adults. A range of appropriate policies and procedures concerning abuse and the protection of vulnerable adults were available in the home.
The home was well managed and run in the interests of people living there.
