During a routine inspection
We were able to meet all of the people living at the home, although none were able to talk with us due to their conditions and given that they are unable to communicate through speech. We therefore observed care and support given to some people, talked with members of staff, looked at care records and assessments, and talked with healthcare professionals that we met who were also visiting the service to provide support to people.
We found that care we observed was delivered with kindness and patience, and by members of staff who knew the people they cared for well. We saw that members of staff worked well as a team and supported one another. The house had a lively and homely atmosphere and was equipped with appropriate medical equipment but also furniture, fixtures and fittings designed and obtained to promote a good quality of life for people.
People living at Fountain House have their nutritional needs met, and take part in numerous activities during the week. This includes swimming, going out into the community and music therapy. People also have had parties with families, friends and other people from the community, staff teams, and people from other Dimensions' Homes in the area. We were told when asking how the local community engaged with people living at Fountain House that people in the local village "love them to bits" and "treated them as part of the community". Members of staff told us that Fountain House was "a wonderful place" and "this really is their home".
