Moors Park House is located in the village of Bishopsteignton, with easy links to Teignmouth and Newton Abbot. The service provides support for up to 37 older people, the majority of whom are living with dementia. At the time of this assessment there were 27 people living at the service. This assessment began on 28 May 2024 and ended on 15 July 2024. Staff did not consistently protect people from abuse. Staff did not always monitor people’s health and safety or mitigate risks where they existed. People’s care plans did not always tell staff how to meet their individual needs. There were not always enough staff on duty, and there were no systems in place to record and monitor complaints. Governance systems and audits were not effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement. The service remains in special measures. The purpose of special measures is to ensure that services providing inadequate care make significant improvements. Special measures provide a framework within which we use our enforcement powers in response to inadequate care and provide a timeframe within which providers must improve the quality of the care they provide. In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded.
