Updated 21 January 2025
Date of assessment: 28 to 29 January 2025. The service is a residential care home providing support to adults of all ages living with dementia and physical disabilities. At the time of our assessment, 11 people were living at the home. Our overall rating has changed from inadequate to requires improvement. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulations in relation to consent, safe care and treatment, and good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. Significant improvements had been made to ensure people were receiving safe care and treatment; however, further improvements were needed. For example, daily audits needed further development to improve effectiveness and ensure environmental concerns were continuously monitored. Additional improvements were required in some aspects of infection prevention control (IPC), record keeping, building décor, staff training, and appraisals. The provider had already taken steps to make improvements and was working towards a home improvement plan. There was a new management team in place who had worked hard to address the issues raised at the last inspection. However, more time was needed to fully embed these changes. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly, people were involved in reviews of care, and the provider worked well with other professionals to provide a collaborative approach to care and meeting the needs of people. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable, and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally. There was a culture of continuous improvement with staff given time and resources to try new ideas. This service has been in Special Measures since 9 February 2024. The provider demonstrated improvements have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.
