Castle Dene is registered to provide care and support for up to 50 people. The home provides care and support to older people some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of this assessment, there were 45 people living at the home. This was the first assessment for the home since their registration, therefore we included all the quality statements within this assessment. The assessment took place between 24 September and 26 September 2024. Systems and processes meant people were protected from avoidable harm. There were enough staff on duty, who had the necessary skills and training to provide care. People received their medicines as prescribed and risks to their health and wellbeing had been planned for. Safeguarding procedures were managed well. Incident analysis meant learning was evident. People had access to a wide range of health and social care professionals to ensure healthcare needs were met. People were involved in their care and their records were person centred. People’s rights were fully respected, and consent was sought from people. Staff were kind and caring, taking into consideration people’s individuality. People had access to varied activities, both inside and outside of the home. People were encouraged to spend time with loved ones and maintain relationships. Community links were established and worked well for the home and provider. People had enough to eat and drink and were provided with a choice of options. Governance systems were in place to ensure oversight. The registered manager told us they were passionate about providing the best care and their team was amazing.
