During a routine inspection
People who used the service had single bedrooms, some with ensuite facilities.
We noted that bathrooms and toilets were well signed and close to rooms on each floor. We found one toilet was out of order but was being attended to at the time of the inspection.
The care centre was split into three areas, a dementia nursing unit, a nursing unit and a residential dementia unit.
During the inspection we sampled six care files. We found that the files were well organised and person centred and contained where appropriate a mental capacity assessment. Detailed assessments of care needs and assessment of risk had been undertaken and were updated monthly including mobility, manual handling, nutrition, dependency and falls risks.
People we spoke to told us: " It's great here they look after us well and the food is good too". "We do a lot of activities we are always doing something".
Relatives told us: 'It's always busy when we visit they are always doing something, sometimes my X doesn't have time for us'. 'My X is well looked after, staff cope well with her as she does have some aggressive times'. 'The memory boxes are great as we can use them also to chat with X about bygone times. Carbolic soap will jog anyone's memory of being a child in the twenties'.
