All Inspections

During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke with four people who are provided with care and support from the shared lives service. All four people said they are looked after well and are involved in making decisions about the type of care and support they receive. None had any concerns or complaints about the service provided.

People also said they are happy with the service they receive and get on well with their carers who are kind and caring. Two people who receive respite care living in the house of their shared lives carers told us they enjoyed staying with them and the things they did whilst they stayed. These included spending time with the family such as having family meals and watching the television, going out to the cinema and helping with the cooking. Two people who receive support in their own home told us how they are helped to maintain their independence. For example, help with shopping, cleaning and going out. One person told us how they also valued and found just spending time with their carer important, such as the opportunity to have a good chat.

The five shared lives carers we spoke to told us they are happy being carers and they are supported well in this role by the service organisers and manager.
