During a routine inspection
People were initially assessed by a psychiatrist who documented their personal and medical histories. A diagnosis of people's presenting problem was made and treatment plans were drawn up. One person told us that they were "happy" with the treatment that they received and described staff as "brilliant".
Written letters were obtained from people who made referrals to the service. Staff sent summary letters to referrers each time people were seen.
Environmental risk assessments were carried out annually and action was taken as appropriate. There were maintenance policies and procedures that covered fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
People were interviewed for vacant posts and records were made to ensure equity in the recruitment process. The qualifications of applicants were verified and they had to provide proof of their current registration status with their professional organisation.
People had a comprehensive health record and notes of their treatment were made that were clear and concise. People's health records were stored in lockable cabinets and in rooms that were not accessible to unauthorised people. Both the room where the records were kept and the premises were locked by staff at the end of each day.
