During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who used the service. They were all happy with the care they received. One person said about the service, "It's really, really good. Just brilliant". Another person said, "They're absolutely excellent. Can't do enough for you". All of the people we spoke with said they had been involved in developing and agreeing their own care plan which they all had a copy of. They said the care workers usually arrived on time and stayed for the amount of time that was needed.

We spoke with three care workers. They all said they had received sufficient training to undertake their role and were encouraged to develop their skills. We saw documented evidence that staff received regular training and supervision.

We looked at the care records of three people. We saw evidence that people's needs had been assessed and that care plans were in place. The care plans were regularly reviewed and updated to reflect any changes that were required. We also saw evidence that people's consent was obtained for their care.

We found that appropriate arrangement were in place for the safe management of people's medicines. All staff had completed medication training and demonstrated a good understanding of their role in this area

We found that people who used the service had been asked for their views about their care and treatment and that comments were acted on. The provider had systems in place to monitor the quality of the service it provided.

During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection of this agency we conducted telephone interviews with people who use the service and their relatives.

People told us they felt they were treated with respect and dignity by the visiting care staff and spoke highly of the service. One person said, "They are very good, very caring, I look forward to them coming - don't know what I'd do without them."

People told us that the care staff were generally punctual and that they were very satisfied with their care. People using the service told us they were involved in their plan of care.

We found that people also experienced a flexible approach to the delivery of their support. One person said "I ring them up if something out of the ordinary happens like an appointment that I need to attend, they will then come at a different time".

People said that the service delivered care according to their care plan. For example, a relative told us that carers visited four times every day to provide personal care and that the care plan was always followed.

One person we spoke with said "I have no concerns whatsoever; they are all very good in what they do."

People using the service told us they felt the agency did a good job in ensuring the quality of the service was maintained. For example one person told us that the care supervisors attended their home from time to time to check that the care staff were working well.
