Our current view of the service

We carried out our onsite assessment on 25 April, 1 May and 7 May 2024. Offsite assessment activity started on 7 May 2024 and ended on 21 May 2024.
The last rating for the service was requires improvement (report published 31 May 2022). At the last inspection, the provider was in breach of regulation regarding staffing. At this inspection, some improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach regarding staffing. However, a new breach had been identified around governance and record keeping. The provider took steps to address these issues following our feedback.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
People's experience of the service

People told us they felt safe, were content with the care provided, and felt comfortable in raising any concerns if they were to have any. Relatives were generally satisfied with the support provided. Relatives told us that if people needed medical attention, staff identified this and sought this swiftly.
People provided us with mixed feedback about staffing levels and did comment on the high level of agency staff which had been in place. People spoke positively about the permanent staff and told us they were kind, caring and attentive. Relatives spoke about changes in management, however, there was now a new permanent manager and deputy manager in post.
People told us staff supported their independence, choice and control. People also felt staff were competent in their roles.
People’s feedback was mixed about the quality of the food, with some saying there was only a small choice, and others saying they had never had a bad meal. The lunchtime experience for people was not well organised and needed to be improved. The provider had identified this shortfall and was taking steps to make this a more enjoyable experience for people.
People confirmed there were no restrictions on visiting and visitors were made to feel welcome.
