During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made
The provider made contact and supplied documentation to show improvements had been made. We were told senior staff received safeguarding training in June 2012 and in house training had been undertaken by all staff. We were provided with a copy of the safeguarding policy which was in line with local and government guidance. We were informed notices were also displayed for staff which detailed what they were to do if they had concerns.
We were told staff had been provided with training to ensure they were familiar with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its relevance to dentistry. Together these would help ensure people using the service were protected from the risk of abuse. This was because staff had knowledge of the subject, knew what to do if they had concerns and knew where to report any concerns.
We were told secure facilities were provided for peoples' confidential records and saw documentation to evidence this. We were informed keys were provided to relevant members of staff who had signed confidentiality agreements. Together these ensured records were stored securely in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 .
