During a routine inspection
"I am very happy with the service, I have been coming for a long time and I've never had anything to complain about.";
"I have been able to ring up on a day with pain and I have always been fitted in.";
The practice met the essential quality requirements of Health Technical Memorandum 01-05. The HTM 01-05 is guidance designed to assist all registered primary dental care services to ensure that their practice meets satisfactory levels of decontamination.
We were told that staff discussed patient treatment and any other issues on a daily basis. If concerns were raised at any time then staff could speak to one of their colleagues or supervisors and did not to wait for formal staff meetings to take place.
We found that policies and procedures such as patient safety, complaints, child protection, practice risk assessment and infection control were up to date for 2012/2013. Staff were asked to sign to say that they had read and understood the contents of each policy. The lead dentist was responsible for ensuring that staff familiarised themselves with any new or updated policies and procedures.
