During a routine inspection
People told us the staff were always 'very friendly' and 'accommodating'. People said appointments were always available when they needed one.
People told us that the dentist always discussed treatment options with them, and some gave examples of this. People were pleased with their treatment, one person said, 'today's treatment, including the injection, did not hurt at all.' One person told us the dentists were 'good with children' and that was helpful as their child had problems with understanding dental treatment. Another person said they had been coming to this practice for several years and were 'very happy' with it. One person had returned to this practice after a long break, and had been pleased to be given an appointment promptly.
One person told us they had been pleased and impressed when a family member had a problem at a weekend, and the dentist and nurse had come in to provide urgent treatment.
Staff said they worked together well as a team, and that any issues that people brought to their attention were discussed at their monthly practice meetings. 'Issues are dealt with, not swept under the carpet,' we were told.
The practice was clean throughout, and procedures were in place to make sure that instruments were cleaned effectively after use, to protect people from the risk of a health care associated infection.
The practice had not yet got in place policies or training to guide staff in safeguarding vulnerable adults from abuse or in supporting people who lack the capacity to make informed decisions about their own treatment, so people may not receive the support they need.
