Kindness, compassion and dignity

Regulations met

Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Patient comments included that staff were “friendly, knowledgeable and efficient”. Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate.

Staff were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights. Staff were aware of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. Staff felt respected, valued and supported in their roles. Leaders described how they supported the wellbeing of staff.

We did not receive any information of concern from partner organisations.

The practice had information governance arrangements and staff were aware of the importance of protecting patients’ personal information. Staff password protected patients’ electronic care records. Paper records were stored in a cabinet which was not lockable. We were told that these records were uploaded on to the computer system and could be shredded. A new process was to be implemented to ensure the secure disposal of these records and the custom-made cupboards were to have locks fitted. Patients had access to clinipads to complete their medical history. This information was stored directly onto computerised patient records. We saw the general environment helped to protect patients’ privacy and dignity. Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion.
