During a routine inspection
We talked with four of the people who used the service. People told us that they were comfortable and liked living there. One person told us, “I like it here; I am made to feel like part of the family.” Another person told us that staff were, “Always helpful, they make it easier for me to manage.”
We found that staff were supported through supervision and that they received training essential for caring for older people, staff were knowledgeable about the people they supported. However, they were not given sufficient guidance to support people whose behaviour created a challenge to the service.
We found that the service had not always taken appropriate action to protect people from abuse, they had failed to follow their own, and the local authorities, safeguarding procedure. The service investigated a potential abusive situation and had failed report it to either the Suffolk safeguarding team or to the Care Quality Commission.
