At this assessment, we only looked at two quality statements. People did not always have their communication and sensory needs met fully. Staff did not always know which mode of communication worked best for people. Outcomes and personal experiences were not always documented, meaning staff were not always aware of people's views.

This service scored 71 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.

Person-centred Care

Score: 2

People’s experience of being at the centre of their care and support were mixed. Some staff did not understand some people’s communication and/or sensory needs fully. However, others they were very much at the heart of their care with good communication between people and staff. staff were seen engaging people to make choices and decisions about activities.

The registered manager told us they were working on supporting staff to understand alternative communication to the spoken word in order to maximise people’s opportunities to receive the care and support they want and need.

We observed staff talking to people and trying to encourage people to say what they would like.

Equity in experiences and outcomes

Score: 3

People were generally supported to participate in activities and appointments by having reasonable adjustments identified. For example, a family member told us, “[Person’s name] gets out and about with the things they need to support them.” People were supported to follow their religious beliefs and attend places of worship.

Staff told us, “Everyone is different and need different things.” Staff told us and records confirmed they received training in equality and diversity.

Documentation gave prompts for staff to record people’s experience and outcomes, these were not always used by staff, leaving gaps in staff and leaders knowledge of people’s views and experiences.
