Many of the people that the agency provided with care were children with a learning disability. They also provided care to adults with a learning disability. On this occasion we were unable to gain the views of people who used the service. Instead we spoke with their relatives and an advocate. We also reviewed comments that had been made on people's records and the compliment's log regarding the care provided.People's relatives told us that the care was 'very good' and 'consistent'. They told us that they were 'very happy' with the care provided and that 'staff are enthusiastic' and 'responsive to requests'.
The agency was small and wanted to provide continuity of care. This meant that they provided care to a small number of people. Some relatives we spoke with expressed a wish for more hours. We found that the agency had a thorough recruitment process and that they aimed to ensure that they recruited suitable staff that they were able to match with people who received the service.
We found that the provider completed thorough care plans that reflected the needs and wishes of people who used the service.
People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse. One person's relative told us that the 'care feels safe'. Staff received training in safeguarding and those who worked with children underwent additional safeguarding children training.
The provider had a complaints policy that was provided to people who used the service and their relatives.
