Aran Court Care Home is a nursing home providing accommodation, personal and nursing care for up to 86 people. The service supports people with a variety of care needs including those living with dementia, older people, people living with mental health issues, physical disabilities, sensory impairment and younger adults. The assessment was prompted by the review of information we held about the service. During our assessment we found 3 breaches of regulation covering the following areas: governance, safeguarding people and receiving and acting on complaints. We found systems in place to review and provide oversight of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) were not effective, which had the potential for unnecessary restrictions being place on people. We found the provider’s complaints system was not effective and the provider had failed to follow their own complaints processes. We found the provider had failed to operate effective governance systems to assess, monitor and mitigate risks relating to the health, safety and welfare of service users, or improve the quality of care for service users. In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/ or appeals have been concluded.
