Updated 5 March 2024
We carried out an assessment on Ashill Lodge from 10 May 2024 with a site visit on 28 May 2024, 05 June 2024 and 17 July 2024 due to concerns raised by healthcare professionals about the staffs training and responsiveness to peoples needs within the service. Previous Whistleblowing concerns about the service and the training standard provided and previous warning notices issued by CQC around medication. We looked at all five key questions and a selection of quality statements. Ashill Lodge is a care home that provides accommodation up to 35 older people with or without dementia. During our site visits we noted there had been some improvements around medication management, but we found additional concerns that required immediate attention on 2 of the site visits around individual care needs, nutritional standards, staffing levels, training requirements and the safety of the environment. We took urgent enforcement action on this service for a breach of regulations of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) regulations 2014. We also put additional referrals through to Norfolk Fire and Rescue, GP Practice, Local Authority and safeguarding team due to concerns we had identified.
