During a routine inspection
The people using the service were actively encouraged to participate in community-based activities. We saw activity plans in the homes, which had pictures and words to identify the activities for the week.
We spoke with one person who told us: 'They help me with dressing, cooking, going out to places and daily life.' This corresponded with the details in their person-centred plan.
We saw the company policy for safeguarding people who use the service from abuse. The policy gave clear procedures for staff.
One person told us: 'I get on well with X, they reassure me, and I would talk to them if I was worried about anything.'
There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place, and appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.
We looked at two staff member files, both had evidence that all checks had taken place, including criminal record checks and references.
A Quality & Performance survey with service users, carried out annually by the provider, resulted in rating of 81.94% satisfied in December 2011. A new survey will be carried out in January 2013.
