The practice had a small waiting area in front of the reception, which had a number of dental products, which could be purchased. Leaflets were available giving information on dental treatments, NHS price bands and oral health. Leaflets were also available in an additional waiting area on the first floor. We spoke with 3 patients who told us: "I have no issues, I always know what treatment I am going to have and how much it will cost me", "I am always treated ok and I have no complaints about anything", "The dentist explains things and I always know what they are going to do".
Patient records were electronically maintained with x rays kept in additional hand held notes. We sampled 6 patient records. Records were effectively maintained. Each treatment episode was well documented.
We saw evidence that staff had received training in emergency procedures and cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Medical emergencies simulations were carried out every 3 months.
The practice had appropriate guidance in place for staff in relation to safeguarding children and adults. Corporate polices were available and contact details of the local primary trust and local authority were kept within the surgery
