We carried out an announced comprehensive inspection at Bluebell Medical Practice on 26 September 2018. This was done as part of our routine inspection programme for newly registered locations.
At this inspection we found:
- The practice had clear systems to manage risk so that safety incidents were less likely to happen. When incidents did happen, the practice learned from them and improved their processes.
- The practice routinely reviewed the effectiveness and appropriateness of the care it provided. It ensured that care and treatment was delivered according to evidence- based guidelines.
- Staff involved treated patients with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
- The triage appointment system enabled patients to always secure a same-day appointment if they needed it. There was also scope for patients to book routine appointments in advance.
- There was a strong focus on continuous learning and improvement at all levels of the organisation.
We saw one area of outstanding practice:
The practice’s engagement with the Patient Reference Group (PRG) facilitated the creation of a ‘Craft and Natter’ group which met fortnightly to undertake knitting projects for local charitable causes. The group had a strong social identity and many patients were keen to join the group. Through this craft group, PRG members had worthwhile opportunities to meet on a regular basis to discuss practice matters, giving strong representation to the practice population.
