Date of assessment 14 May to 03 June 2024. We assessed a small number of quality statements from the well-led key question and found areas of good practice. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. As the assessment of this quality statement indicated areas of good practice since the last inspection, our overall rating remains outstanding. Bluebird Care (Plymouth and South Hams) provides care and support to older people living in their own homes. Some of the people being supported are living with dementia. Bluebird Care [Plymouth & South Hams] is a franchise of the Bluebird Care Group and is a Homecare agency. Services they provide include personal care and domestic support to people in their own homes, and ‘live in’ support where a care staff lives in the person’s home with them. The service is registered to provide support to a number of client groups. However, almost all of the people being supported by the service are older members of the community. We visited the service’s office in Plympton, Plymouth on 21 May 2024. On the date of our visit there were 88 people receiving a service of whom 63 were receiving personal care and 25 were receiving domestic support only. Of these 88 people, 22 people had a ‘live in’ care worker staying with them in their home.

People's experience of the service

People continue to benefit from an exceptionally well led service. We reviewed feedback the service had received from people and their relatives. People fed back in the latest, 'Customer Survey’ carried out in December 2023, they were happy when describing their experiences of care delivered by the service. Comments included, they are "highly organised, efficient, warm and kind” and the staff are "polite and respectful”. People who used the service and their relatives praised the care delivered, the staff, and the management team.
