Snowdrop House is a residential care home providing accommodation, with nursing and/or personal care. This was the first assessment carried out under our single assessment framework. This assessment was unannounced. Assessment activity started on 25 June and ended on 23 July 2024. We visited the service on 25 June 2024. We looked at a total of 19 quality statements from the safe, responsive and well led key questions. At our last ratings inspection (report published 02 August 2019) we rated the service Requires Improvement. At this assessment we found improvements had been made, including to areas related to care planning and management responsiveness to concerns and feedback. The service is now rated Good. The provider had a comprehensive quality assurance system in place which consisted of audits and checks of all aspects of people’s care and the service provided. Feedback was actively sought. People, staff and relevant stakeholders were listened to and decisions about care and the running of the service were made in partnership. People felt their needs were met and care was delivered in accordance with their preferences and choices. Processes in place supported people to be involved in the planning and reviewing of their care. The service was clean and well maintained. Staff demonstrated adherence to infection prevention and control measures in place and were aware of risks to people’s health, safety and wellbeing. The registered manager maintained clear and detailed records of risks at the service, and we saw how information was routinely shared and discussed to ensure all staff were kept informed and up-to-date. We identified one concern during our visit to the service in relation the management and storage of oxygen. This was immediately attended to by management.
