During a routine inspection
We looked at two care records and saw they contained detailed information about the care, support and treatment each child required.
The service is staffed by all volunteers from across the country. All staff had undertaken a rigorous induction programme and had been trained by staff from Alder Hay Hospital. Staff evaluations of the training were positive. Comments included: 'The training was excellent', and 'I feel confident to look after the children following my training'.
Comments from the Surgery, Cardiac, Anaesthesia & Critical Care team from Alder Hey Hospital include: 'We have been very impressed by your charity and the work you have being doing with the patients, families and our cardiac liaison team have provided extremely positive feedback '.
We spoke with two parents who used the service. One told us ' The support is excellent. I have 100% confidence in my support worker.' Another told us this is a marvellous service. Their support is vital and you know you do not have to deal with things on your own'.
We saw relevant policies and procedures were in place and these were emailed out to the volunteers.
